The Place

Niulahi
Beachfront Villa

Tucked away in the islands of Vava'u, Tonga, Ofu is not easy to get to. That's the point.

No resorts, no tour groups, just a pristine coral reef, uninhabited islands all around, and the kind of stillness that's genuinely hard to find anymore.

Niulahi Beachfront Villa sits right on the water with a private jetty as your front door to the sea. The house sleeps up to 8, with air conditioning in every room, Starlink internet, a full kitchen, and island-style breakfast included every morning. Comfortable enough that nothing gets in the way. Remote enough that everything else does.

The Experience

What a week
looks like

Mornings on the verandah with coffee and water views. Jump off the jetty into clear water. Snorkel the reef. Kayak around the island. Pick coconuts straight from the yard.

Walk through the village and meet the locals. Take the boat to Neiafu for fresh provisions or dinner at one of the waterfront restaurants.

Between July and October, swim with humpback whales in the waters around Vava'u.

Or do nothing at all. That's the point too.

FAQs

Questions,
answered.

How do I get to and off the island during my stay?

Getting here is part of the adventure! Complimentary boat transfers to and from Neiafu airport are included in your stay.

You'll be picked up from the airport and driven through Vava'u before a 30-minute boat ride through the archipelago as Ofu slowly comes into view.

For trips back to Vava'u during your stay, a boat taxi can be organized through the caretaker at a small additional charge.

How do meals and grocery shopping work?

On the way from the airport, we can stop at local stores in Neiafu to pick up essentials for island life, including bottled water, mosquito repellent, snacks, or any groceries you need for your stay.

We recommend drinking bottled water rather than tap water during your time on the island, so it's worth stocking up before you make the crossing. And like any tropical paradise, mosquito repellent will quickly become your best friend, so pack it or grab it in Neiafu and you'll be set.

Once you're on the island, we provide a fresh, island-style breakfast for all guests every morning. For other meals, you have the flexibility to use the fully stocked kitchen or have our caretaker prepare authentic Tongan dishes for you (at an additional cost per dish). Just let us know in advance if you'd like us to organize these meals.

You're also welcome to enjoy unlimited fresh coconuts right from the backyard!

What is the house like and what amenities are included?

The villa sleeps 6 across three bedrooms (two queens and two singles), with additional air mattresses available for larger groups. You'll have two bathrooms, an open-plan living area, and a fully stocked kitchen equipped with a Nespresso machine, oven, microwave, and fridge.

To keep you comfortable and connected, every room has air conditioning, and the house features Starlink Wi-Fi, all powered by a high-end solar system.

Outside, our private jetty provides direct access to the ocean for swimming, snorkeling, and jumping into the crystal-clear waters whenever you like.

Can you help us organise whale watching?

Vava'u is one of the best places in the world for whale encounters between July and October. We work with a trusted local operator and can help you get everything organized.

Because spots are limited and highly sought after, we recommend getting in touch as soon as possible to secure your booking. Once your dates are locked in, we'll coordinate boat transport from our private jetty to meet your tour so you can head straight out to the whales.

What activities are available during my stay?

There is plenty to explore on Ofu. You can jump off the private jetty, snorkel in the pristine coral reefs, or take a kayak out to explore the surrounding waters. For those who prefer to stay on land, you can walk through the island to take in the local scenery and visit the nearby village.

Of course, the island is also the perfect place to simply disconnect and read a book in the sun.

Please note that Sunday is a holy day in Tonga; out of respect for local traditions, activities and noise are kept to a minimum on this day.

Is the island safe?

Ofu is a very safe and peaceful destination with a small, welcoming local community.

While the environment is tranquil, we do ask that parents keep a close eye on their children at all times, just as you would at home. The proximity to the ocean and the private jetty means little ones should always be supervised when exploring near the water.

In the event of an emergency, we have protocols in place to ensure you are well looked after. Our caretaker lives nearby, and her husband operates the boat, meaning there is always a way to get off the island quickly and return to the mainland should the need arise.
